Round front and back neck Waist length Pullover Top with Set-in shoulder Sleeveless (inset) and crocheted edging.
Ladies' size 30 (36, 44) inches
YARN DESCRIPTION:
Courtelle Double Knit by Carter & Parker Ltd 100% acrylic boucle or similar (see GAUGE DATA); approx. 150g (200g, 250g) [6oz (8oz, 9oz)]
GAUGE DATA:
Body knitted by Bond on keyplate 3
Edging crocheted on 4.5mm hook
Gauge (stocking st over 4 in = 10 cm): 16.0 st by 20.0 rows
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS (ins) :
Chest: 32.2 (38.4, 46.8) ... with Moderate fit
Front neck width: 3.0 (3.3, 3.8)
Armhole: 11.0 (12.2, 14.0)
Back width: 12.9 (14.1, 16.0)
Front neck depth: 2.8 (3.6, 4.0)
Body length: 15.3 (18.6, 19.8)
Top neck width: 5.9 (6.5, 7.5)
Back neck width: 3.0 (3.3, 3.8)
Back neck depth: 2.8 (3.6, 4.0)
NOTE: At most, 68 (80, 96) needles are required to knit this garment.
BACK:
1. Cast on 68 (80, 96) sts in WY, using open edge method and keyplate
3. Knit 6 rows, ending COR. Change to MY.
2. Knit 46 (56, 58) rows. COR.
3. Armhole shaping. Cast off 4 (4, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows. COR. Knit
6 (12, 20) rows, while dec 1 st at each end of next and every following
alternate row. Total 54 (70, 80) rows with 54 (60, 66) sts remaining. Continue
until 64 (76, 80) rows total, with 54 (60, 66) sts remaining.
4. Shape neck. COR. Cast off center 12 (14, 16) sts. 21 (23, 25) sts each
side.
5. Right neck. LH needles in HP. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 6 (6,
7) times, until 15 (17, 18) sts remain. Then knit 4 (6, 7) rows even. Total
74 (88, 94) rows.
6. Shoulder shaping. *(Cast off 7 (5, 6) sts at armhole edge of next row.
Work 1 row even)* 1 (1, 3) time(s). *(Cast off 8 (6, 0) sts at armhole
edge of next row. Work 1 (1, 0) row even)* 1 (2, 0) times. Total 78 (94,
100) rows.
7. Left neck. COL. Work as for right neck, reversing shapings.
FRONT:
1-2 Follow steps 1,2 as for back. COR.
3. Armhole. Dec for armhole at both ends, as for back. Continue until 64
(76, 80) rows total, with 54 (60, 66) sts remaining.
4. Shape neck. COR. Cast off center 12 (14, 16) sts. 21 (23, 25) sts each
side.
5. Right neck. LH needles in HP. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 6 (6,
7) times, until 15 (17, 18) sts remain. Then knit 4 (6, 7) rows even. Total
74 (88, 94) rows.
6. Shoulder shaping. Cast off as for back step 6.
7. Left neck. COL. Work as for right neck, reversing shapings.
BACK AND FRONT RIBBING: NO RIBBING.
1. Pick up 68 (80, 96) sts. Cast off loosely.
LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Use backstitch to sew front to back along left shoulder seam.
RIGHT SHOULDER SEAM: as for left shoulder seam.
FINISHING:
1. Sew side seams using invisible seam. Use backstitch to sew remaining
seams.
2. Crochet an edging around the neck, armholes and hem using a 4.5mm hook
if desired.
3. Sew in all loose ends.
NOTES:
1. I crocheted a single edging around the armholes to firm them up,
but left the neck to roll naturally.
2. I added a short rib to the front and back.
