Subject: [BOND] Soap Sack Pattern

Hi all!

  	I a bit shy about posting this, but I'm also excited at being able to share
something with the rest of you.  I've been working on this since last night
and finally got it right after a few false starts.  In fact, I'm looking at
the finished product and am quite happy with it -- for being a "newbie", that
is.  A couple of notes:  I used the purl side as the outside of the sack since
it offered more texture for actual use.  This will hold any standard or large-
sized bar of soap.  

Soap Sack

You will need two balls of size 10 cotton thread
      The two balls of cotton thread are to be used simultaneously.  I used
peach for one color, cream for the other.  The combination is really pretty. 
Use Keyplate #1

Pulling forward 34 needles, do a closed-edged cast on.  
Push needles back to working position.
Starting with COR, knit 10 rows, ending with COR.
Transfer every other stitch to the needle on the immediate right.
Push the needles holding the two stitches to FWP.
Knit the next row -- you now have an eyelet row.
Continue to knit 31 rows more, ending with COL.
Bind off with a backstitch.

Finishing:  Crochet or whipstitch the bottom and edge of the sack (the top is
where the eyelets are -- leave it open for the soap).  Weave ribbon (I
crocheted a 10-in. chain out of 4-ply cotton) thru the eyelets, drop in a bar
of soap, draw strings closed and tie in a bow.
