Subject: [BOND] Christmas Quickies - Tea Cozy/Hat
Kitchen Tea Cozies:-
Materials:- Odds and ends of worsted weight yarn = 100 grams
Keyplate # 3
Using closed edge cast on, or waste your preference cast on 46
stitches.
Knit for 5 rows.
Place every second stitch on the adjacent needle.
Knit accross,
Knit for 5 more rows.
Pick up every stitch from the original cast on and place over
stitches on this row, you now have two stitches on every needle
Knit across -
Picot edged hem is now formed.
Now knit for 8 more rows, transfer every second stitch to the
adjacent needle,you now have lace holes across this row.
Continue to knit until you have knit an additional 40 rows.
Place every second stitch on the opposite needle,
Knit across,
knit an additional 5 rows,
Cast off loosely.
Make a second piece the same.
Make-up:-
Make a tasseled cord, do not add the tassetls to the end yet or use
a ribbon, your choice. Sew the picot hems in place if you have not already
done so. Now working with right sides together or using a kitchener stitch
stitch from the top down on the right hand side for at least 3 inches, then
go to the bottom of the same side and stitch up for at least 3 inches.
Repeat on the other side, you now have room for a spout on the right
hands side and a handle on the left.
Take the ribbon or cord and thread through the lace holes that are
left at the top, tie and tighten, tie tassels to end of cording or a bow in
the ribbon. You now have one completed ta cozy.
By the way, if you add a few more stitches and a few more rows this
also makes an adorable little girls hat.

Subject: [BOND] Placemats to Match Tea Cozy
Materials:- Approximately 3 - 100 gram balls of worsted weight yarn.
Keyplate # 3
Using the closed edge cast on.
Cast on 56 stiches.
Knit 5 rows.
Place every second stitch on adjacent needle,
Knit across.
Knit a further 5 rows.
Rehang first row to this row..you will have 2 stitches on every needle.
Knit a further 75 rows or desired length.
Place every second stitch on adjacent needle.
Knit across.
Knit a further 5 rows.
Cast off loosely and stitch picot hem down.
Rehang side edges onto the machine picking up every stitch along the way
including the picot hems at each end.
Knit 5 rows.
Move every second stitch to the adjacent needle.
Knit 5 rows.
Cast off.
Stitch hem down and blind stitch edges closed.
Repeat for other side.
Make three more and or a longer one as a table centerpiece.

Subject: [BOND] hair bungees/techniques
Hello,
Dani, I have not forgotten your hair bungee request and the techniques week
seems a good time to bring this up, because you can use hair
bungees(scrunchies) as little mini stitch technique, color samplers, etc
w/o feeling like you are wasting yarn. I have posted a longer explanation
of hair bungees including measuring on my web page, if anyone wants to add
to it that would be great and I hope to add more patterns as I go along.
Here is a basic scrunchy pattern on the Bond ISM for encasing a store
bought hair elastic that measures 4" across (one side of the circle) when
stretched out fully. That means the scrunchy should be at least 8"
Lily peaches and cream, KP 3 4st/in, 6 rows/in
CO 14 st, K 48 rows, remove from needle bed, sew ends together, encase
elastic hair tie and sew up sides.
Variations: knit a cable up center…knit a lace pattern… drop down every
other st and rib… change colors every 2 rows, knit bobbles… knit butterfly
or tuck sts…do "wide ribbing"..knit a faire isle pattern, knit weave in
some exotic or hairy yarn, and on and on
You can also make stripes and ribbing run the other way by reversing the
length and width, in the above case, cast on 48st, knit 14 (or more rows)

Bette's Mohair Scarf 7 skeins-1 3/4 ounce each, Pingouin Mohair Extra Keyplate dot 4 Guage 12 st x 12 rows= 4 inches( guage is not that important) Bring forward 120 needles...push back to NWP every other needle....CO with WY and knit 6 rows.....Switch to MC and knit 300 rows....You may have to rehang the hem a couple of times when the knitting hits the floor....Make sure to use lots of extra weight along the bottom and clip weights on the edges..Go slowly and make sure to constantly check for skipped stitches....You could use any kind of edge treatment but I didn't want fring or ribbing so I did this scalloped edge that I will try to explain.....At the last row bring all needles to holding possition.....push 7 needles on the carraige side to FWP......hang a claw weight at this row....Knit 8 rows.....Using the every other needle multi prong transfer tool, move the first 7 stitches that you just worked on to the next 7 in holding possition......Put stitch 1 on stitch 7, stitch 2 on stitch 8, and so on........move claw weight over too....Knit 8 rows and repeat move....Do this all the way to the end .....at the end move the stitches in holding possition on to the needles in working possition.....Knit 1 row...Back stitch BO......Rehang stitches on WY and repeat the edge treatment on that end too.....Block scarf making sure to get scallops to stay flat......You will have small flaps on the back of the scallops that you might want to sew down....before finishing brush the knit side of the scarf with a hair brush to bring mohair fibers forward and make it look fluffy.... This pattern might be a little confusing if so e-mail me at bahrens@pacbell.net..... Knit a piece the double the length and the width of eyeglasses...then decrease 1 sts on each side till you have created a point. Put an eyelet near the point. This is for a buttonhole. Sew up the sides, add a button, and there you have a case to hold glasses. Closed edge cast on. Knit a panet 75 rows long. Cast off center 15 sts. Cast on the center 15 sts. and rehang hem. Knit another 75 row. Sew up the bottom and sides leaving a hole where you casted off center sts. Make a rope whatever length you desire to hang the bag. Fill the bag with all those grocery bags you save. Viola' a bag holder. I have a few more but need to think them thru. These are silly little things but thought someone might be interested. I'm really proud of myself (VBG) Gotta brag just a little!!! I want to share my pattern with you all. It's great if you need a quick gift...takes about an hour. The pattern fits a 12 x 12 pillow form (you could always add stitches if you want to make a larger pillow. The decreases and button are because this is an envelope type pillow. I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn. CO 50 stitches using the e-wrap. K 50 rows; mark on both sides using stitch markers. K 50 rows; mark on both sides using stitch markers. K 5 rows, then begin decreasing 1 stitch on each sied until you have 5 needles left with stitches on them. Using the middle needle, make a buttonhole (this can be made either to the left or right). K 1 row. Decrease 1 stitch on each side, giving you 3 needles left holding yarn. K 3 rows and bind off. Seam sides together, matching your sstitch markers. Turn, slip in pillow to measure where your button should be sewn. Sew on button and enjoy!!! If anyone has questions, please let me know.
