Hello Bonders:
I have decided to share this pattern, at this time, as my early Christmas Gift
to all of you. I plan to keep this pattern for my "SOMEDAY" book, but with
all the interest in bags right now, I thought you might want to try it.
This pattern uses the seam as you scream (Hi Lis) method, but it isn't as
hard as it "seams" at first. Just use lot's of claw weights on this one.
This pattern is 2 pages long as I have tried to explain each step as thoroughly
as possible.

Please do not post this pattern to any list or use it for manufacturing these
bags.
This bag was originally designed as a beach bag to take to Camp Iwannaknit
this past summer. I also designed a Water Bottle bag and this pattern is a
combination of both bags.
Please read all instructions carefully before beginning this project.
MATERIALS:
6 - 7 balls or 1 cone of Sugar and Cream or Peaches and Cream worsted
weight yarn.
GAUGE:
4 st and 5 rows = 1 inch on KP # 3
Go to Steph’s page and get the Eyelet Swirl Doily pattern. The bottom of this
bag will be made on the same principle. You will make a bottom using the
doily pattern. (See exception below)
Use Sugar and Cream or Peaches and Cream or any cotton yarn of your choice
that is of worsted weight and Keyplate # 3
A cone of yarn is the best way to purchase P & C or S & C for this project as it
takes about 12 ounces of yarn and a cone is approximately 16 ounces. You
can always use the remainder for pot holders or dish cloths.
Follow the Eyelet Swirl Doily pattern EXCEPT cast on only 20 stitches.
Continue through the grafting of the seam.
With waste yarn, CO 36 stitches. Knit 6 rows of waste yarn.
Set your row counter 000.
With the wrong side of "doily" facing you, hang one of the "straight" stitches
from the side of the "doily" on to the end needle.
Change to Main Yarn (MY) knit 2 rows.
Hang the next straight stitch and knit 2 rows.
You will have to remove the hem weight and use claw weights on this also.
Continue in this manner until you have knitted all the straight stitches.
Check your row counter for the number of rows and make a note of this
number.
Remove on 6 rows of waste yarn.
Do not graft the seam at this time.
Check # of rows on row counter.
Divide this # in half.
*Hang half of the top edge stitches on to needles, hanging three stitches
(rows) and skipping one.
Set Row Counter to 000
Knit 2 rows and dec. one stitch each end.
Continue knitting 2 rows and decreasing 2 stitches each end until there are
20 stitches left on the needles.
Measure the stitches per inch and determine how long you want the strap
to be. (Mine is 30 inches). And knit half the # of rows. 15" X 5 rows = 70 rows.
Remove on waste yarn.*
Repeat from * to * for the other half of the top of the bag.
Graft the two ends of the handle together.
The handle will roll in on itself and no finishing is necessary.
Graft the side of the bag together.
If you would like to make a heavier bag, make two bags and put one inside
the other, wrong sides facing, before you hang the stitches for the handle.
