Subject: [BOND] Generously sized sweater pattern

This is very large, lots to big for me and I wear a 2x sweatshirt and
like things baggy. I've had so many requests for this pattern that I
decided that there is a need. You need to do a swatch and do the math
for the size. Use a favorite sweater for a guide and lengthen and
shorten body and sleeves as needed. It will also be an nice size for XL
if done with a KP3 and worsted wt yarn (not the skimpy stuff). This was
the pattern I learned from and used many times by me and my knitting
friends. I just hope that there are a minimum of typos.

This version of The Super Easy Pullover will fit a 3x or 4x. Certain
things will affect the size of a sweater. Size of yarn, number of
needles, speed of knitting, size of keyplate and sometimes even the
color of the yarn play an important part in the size of a sweater. (Did
you know that a sweater or afghan knitted in a tuck stitch pattern is a
lot wider than can usually be expected?) In this case I have taken a
basic sweater pattern by Cari Clement of Bond America and changed a few
things.

Use a Keyplate 4 instead of a 3. Use CHUNKY weight yarn instead of
worsted, knit SLOWLY and evenly.
This pattern probably takes about 1500 or 1600 yds instead of 1400.
BACK: With WY and using the open-edge cast-on, cast on 98 sts and K 6
rows.
Break off. With Main Color, K 148 rows.
SHAPE NECK: Put center 28 sts onto a double strand of WY.
Push all needles on LHS up to HP.
COR. Work RHS first. K 1 row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge. K back.
BO loosely across rem 34 sts.
Push needles on LHS back to HKP making sure latches are open.
Re-hang RHS to balance weighting of LHS by bringing forward a few
needles on RHS up to HP and pushing the finished knitting onto the
needles.
Work LHS as for RHS, shaping at neck edge.
RIBBING: Following instructions for easy BOND ribbing, bring forward
97 needles to HP.
Hang first row of main yarn onto needles now in HP.
(You will be decreasing by 1 st, placing 2 sts onto 1 needle.)
COL, K 16 rows. COL.
Drop and latch up to form ribbing.
BO in backstitch. (Makes a nice elastic edge, esp. good for childrens
necklines)
FRONT: Same as back, but K only 132 rows of Main Color.
SHAPE NECK: Put center 10 sts onto double strand of WY. Push needles on
LHS up to HP.
Work RHS first: COR. Knit, decreasing 1 st at neck edge over next 4
rows, then dec 1 st at neck edge
every other row 6 times.
When same number of rows knit for front as for back (150 rows), BO
loosely across.
Push needles on LHS back to HKP, and shape neck as for RHS.
Work ribbing as for back.
NECKBAND: Sew one shoulder seam. With wrong side facing you, pick up 81
sts distributed as follows: 2 sts side back, 28 sts from WY at back, 2
sts at other side back, 19 sts along side front neck edge, 10 sts from
WY at front, 20 sts along other side front neck edge.
COL. K 8 rows. Drop and latch up to form ribbing as for back. BO in
backstitch.
Sew neckband and other shoulder seam.
SLEEVES: Measure down 11 1/2 inches along side edges of both front and
back, and place a marker.
Pick up 98 sts between markers along sleeve edge placing center sts at
'0'.
Hang hem, K, dec 1 st each end every 4 rows 24 times.
Work 6 more rows.
Total rows knit = 102.
There will be 50 sts rem.
K 6 rows WY and remove from Bond.
Bring forward 40 needles to HP.
COL. Hang sts of last row of main yarn onto these needles, placing 2 sts
onto 1 needle where necessary to decrease 10 sts.
K 10 rows. Drop and latch up to form ribbing, as for back. BO in
backstitch.
FINISHING: Sew side and sleeve seams.
Make a swatch. Measure your favorite sweater and do the math. If you
need to adjust the length of anything now is the time.

Finish

- -----------------------------------------------------

These basic patterns can be used to design worsted weight coats in
different lengths and customize your own personal style. I used a
patternwriter to get the figures and have not worked these ones out myself,
but want to start designing for the larger figure for a bit.

The basic length on the these sweaters are bands included 25 inches
for body and 19 inches for sleeves.

Once you have the basic pattern mastered and fitting you can add
cables, lace panels, fairisle, intarsia etc.

Have fun and be creative.
