Subject: [BOND] Children's/adults knit-in's

       Why we knit sweatshirt knit ins:-

        to practise knitting intarsia small subjects.
        to practise knitting fairisle
        to practise a new technquie, cables that can go around, so must knit
more than one - ( 3 will do seperated by 4 stitches )
       to practise tuck stitch in verigated yarns as this is a design
concept in its own.
      to use up odds and ends of scrap yarn.

        How do we do it :-

        Measure the width of the insert for the sweatshirt around the top,
centre or bottom wherever you decide that you would like to place it.

        Knit a generous piece of fabric leaving at least an inch or more on
each side for comfort sake and fudge factor.

        Lay this piece on top of the sweatershirt and draw a line across
with a straight edge.  If this scares you, pin the side seams, under the arm
and before the ribbing and cut through both pieces at the same time, we now
have a short sweater looking for a bottom.  

        Lay the knitted piece on the top part of the sweater and stitch in
place using a small zizzag stitch or hand backstitch pinnning from the
centre out so that the design or pattern is centred, do the same for the
back, now pin the sides and seam this section together, pick up the bottom
and pin in place and stitch, and voila' a new technique and a designer
sweatshirt that is the talk of the town.
